“All power is given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore to all nations and make disciples baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I am with you always, until the end of the times ˮ (Mt 28: 18-20). “ (Mt: 28: 18-20) That were the last words of Jesus Christ to his apostles in the glorious time, full of majesty he would take up his throne at the right hand of his father. In short, he sums up his doctrine and training he had given them for the salvation of the world…’’. (De Brésillac, Retreat to the missionaries, p. 237).

50 days after the Resurrection of Jesus passed quickly for the Apostles. They had to realize that Jesus was still alive, to remember what he told them, getting in their daily life the love that Jesus had put in their heart and tell the Good News to all. Very fast for missionaries training! We have the chance to make long studies, to have elders who can guide us, form us, and encourage us in our mission. But the danger is to build on our knowledge, our degrees, and our success to become “masters ˮ and not “witnesses ˮ. Do not forget the essential: the Holy Spirit that we have received as the Apostles, the permanently presence of Jesus, the faith which must guide all our words and deeds, love for the poor…

One question: when we preach the Word of God (catechesis, homily…) what part of the Holy Spirit, and what is our part in our words?
