The season of Advent is a time of grace, because it is one of the highest times of the Church. It is a special time when God showers us with blessings. This is why it is a joyful time as we wait for our Savior Jesus who will come to break our bonds with evil and wipe away our tears. He will come to give us freedom and life as He himself says: “I have come so that men may have life and have it in abundance” (Jn.10:10). This is also why it is a time of great hope.

“Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down” (Is 64:1); “A shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, father of David” (Is 11:1). For us Christians, these words of Isaiah are charged with an Advent fragrance and turn our eyes to the coming of God’s Son into our world.

“Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me”(Hebrews 10:5), placing here the body as the supreme offering which God can give to man and vice versa as the absolute offering that man can offer to God, as St. Paul states: “Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship” (Rm.12:1). All the novelty and the originality of Christianity rests on this fundamental principle: The Incarnation.

At the chapel of MIM, a special ceremony took place, organized by the NDA sisters in collaboration with the SMA fathers. They chose this location to celebrate the Mass, an event rich in significance. Firstly, it was a thanksgiving for the arrival of their new resident, but it also marked the silver jubilee of Sr. Suzanne Yeboua, presided over by Mgr. Michel Cartateguy.

The Fraternité de Laïques Missionnaires (FLM) which translates to fraternity of lay missionaries in Lyon had the privilege of hosting SMA (Société des Missions Africaines) lay missionaries from various countries, including the USA, based in Benin, the United Kingdom, based in Togo, Poland, and four esteemed guests from Spain. Over the weekend, a series of events unfolded, providing a vivid showcase of the region's cultural and historical treasures.
