Novena to Bishop Brésillac (Day1)
Plenary Council 2022
SMA News - January 2023
The Plenary Council has reached half-way of its journey. And providence wanted it to be a Pentecost weekend. Saturday was the feast of our Missionary Sisters Our Lady of the Apostles. There was a short session in the morning and the rest of the day was dedicated to celebrating with the OLA sisters of the communities in Rome. After preaching the recollection for the opening of the Plenary Council, the indefatigable Fr. Michel Bonemaison, SMA, presided at the Mass in the presence of the SMA fathers and several other guests. In his homily, he thanked God for the precious gift of the vocation of our sisters. They are, in fact, Women Apostles rooted in the Word of God. They give themselves the courage to go out to a humanity that needs a motherly presence that is constantly consoling. With great perseverance, they always seek to be the seeds of communion and hope. They bear witness to God's love by trying above all to live in unity as the Lord has recommended.
But why the feast, on this day of the eve of Pentecost?

Yesterday and today saw the debates focus on the issues of training and administration. Yesterday, as every evening, the tireless drafting team worked late into the night to produce a synthesis of the group work. This morning, before going back to the groups, the meeting began with a plenary session to exchange and clarify the question of welcoming vocations and others.

On this 4th day of the Plenary Council 2022, our Superior Fathers addressed the issues of formation and administration. We know that in every society, human capital holds a central place. The formation and management of this capital is therefore crucial for an organization to move forward towards the vision that saw its birth. Our founder said, "The members of a society have the consolation of sharing in the merits of all the good that is done in the body of the association, by the strength given to them

Our founder, Bishop Marion de Brésillac said: "We missionaries are not free not to do the work of God continually". It is precisely the theme of mission that was at the center of the discussions on this third day of the meeting. After a general presentation on the theme, the participants divided into small groups to put their ideas together. It was mainly a question of taking an assessment of our commitments in the countries where we are present, in order to determine the best way to project ourselves into the future.

After the opening yesterday under the sign of recollection and prayer, the Plenary Council definitely took off today while keeping the Lord as the wind under its wings. In fact, this morning, as it will be in the days to come, each day begins with a time of Lectio Divina. It should be emphasized that as SMA "our missionary commitment flows from our incorporation into the living Christ" (Constitutions and Laws, 3). The same is true for all activities within the Society.

Initially planned to be held in Poland, the Plenary Council 2022 has finally settled in the Eternal City. In fact, since this morning of May 30, 2022, at the General House in Rome, the Plenary Council has opened and will run until Sunday, June 12.
This opening began with a wonderfully prepared recollection led by Father Michel Bonemaison, SMA. In his speech, he reminded us how good it is to remember that it is out of pure love that we enjoy the life that God has given us forever and which he maintains unceasingly.

The preparations to celebrate the 100th Jubilee Year of the Foundation of our Institute of the Missionary Catechists of the Sacred Heart in 2022, especially in Europe, were disrupted first by the health crisis related to covid-19. Successive lockdowns and uncertainty during the two years of the pandemic have forced us to a minimum program. Our 100th Anniversary Feast is also somewhat overshadowed by the preparation of the MCS-C General Chapter of June-July 2022. The year 2022, the very year of the Centenary festivities, is now marked by another crisis,
