Novena to Bishop Brésillac (Day1)
Plenary Council 2022
SMA News - January 2023
Mr. Fumiaki Yanagisawa came from Tokyo to know the thoughts of Father Aupiais
You are a researcher at the University of Tokyo. In March 2016, you spent about ten days in the archives of the African Missions in Rome. You were looking for information on Father Aupiais. From where do you get your interest in him, and how did you come to know about this missionary?
From February 8 to 22, as the Councillor in-charge of India, I visited that country equal to the size of a continent, the country which was the country of mission of our founder. I was very impressed by the vitality of the Christian faith in the southern part of India, a Christianity, which in spite of its scattering in the hindu ocean, is distinguished by its faith, its liturgy, its beautiful churches and its charitable and educational works.

Luke 24: 1-8
"But at daybreak on the first day of the week they took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb
They found the stone rolled away from the tomb;
but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
While they were puzzling over this, behold, two men in dazzling garments appeared to them.
They were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground. They said to them, "Why do you seek the living one among the dead?
He is not here, but he has been raised. Remember what he said to you while he was still in Galilee,
that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified, and rise on the third day."
And they remembered his words.”
I take this opportunity to wish every member and lay associate the fullest blessings of the Easter Season: those serving in parish ministry; those in our retirement homes; those in missionary animation work; those serving the mission through administration; those serving the mission through leadership.
May this Easter renew your faith and commitment to God’s mission, as entrusted to us in the Society of African Missions.

I reached Sierra Leone by mid May 2014. I enjoyed the beauty of the country with lot of palm trees and the wonderful flora and fauna that was very familiar to me. It was the season of Mangoes that cheered me up. In the Archdiocese of Freetown there was a beautiful practice of all the priests serving in the archdiocese coming together on the last Sunday of every month to one of the parishes for a get-together and a meal. This practice died off as the Ebola became severe and the Government restricted movements and gathering.
