If you receive a strange message from a friend, and asking you to contact him only via internet, it is no doubt that the e-mail of your friend has been hacked. Do not reply to these kind of message as a next one will come asking you for money. In this case you rather contact your friend by phone, so that he can change his mail or password and inform all his friends. “All members are reminded to treat e-mail request messages with great caution. Usually they are scams, even when supposedly signed by prominent individuals within the SMA”.

Dear confreres,
The SMA Media Centre invites itself at the heart of your Lenten season to present you with its activities and missionary priorities for this year 2014-2015.
As you probably know, this Centre is an organ of information dedicated to the African continent. It is at the service of communication managers, Secretaries, and the missionary animators of all SMA entities. It was created in 2009 and has its headquarters at 150 Cours Gambetta, Lyon, France.
Despite the climate of fear and mistrust, Christians and Muslims still living together in Bouar.
While on holidays, I had the opportunity to see the consequences of the terrible and bloody crisis which my country has just gone through. The situation is very bad at all levels. What can be observed is that the Central African Republic has come out of these crises weakened and divided.

As part of the TV program “Église du Monde”, of the French Catholic channel KTO, our colleague Joseph Guvvala, who lived in Niger as a missionary, was interviewed about the situation of the Church of that country after the destructions of many religious buildings and the death of a dozen of people following the publications of Charlie Hebdo. Saturday 31st January 2015 saw the dedication and the 25th Anniversary celebration of St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Ashaley Botwe in Accra.

I spent ten days in Egypt between 5th and 14th February. Though the SMA family is small right now, I found all of them to be in good spirits.

On behalf of all the members and lay associates of the Society of African Missions, I sincerely congratulate Fr Francois Gnonhossou SMA on his nomination as Bishop of Dassa-Zoume in the Republic of Benin. This is an honour for Francois himself as it is an honour for the entire Society.
